In case of straight stair tracks are made of extruded aluminum but in case of curved track, these are made of a combination of steel and aluminum for the best durability.
An early version of stair lift was of AC type and there was the requirement of 15 amp plug point in the main source to manage the entire drive and operation. But due to constant friction tear and wear was the essential problem with the cable. Presently most of the systems are run by DC system where a 12-volt rechargeable battery works on the drive and provide back up in case of power interruption.
Swivel seats are the only option for seating arrangement in stair lift chairs and this type of seats are available in two types like 90° or 180°; a 90-degree swivel seat is kept in mounted position in the upstairs side upper direction and the 180-degree seat is used in both the direction. Some of the brands use motorized swivel seats in the stair lift chairs for better maneuvering.
