You Want to Lose Weight? Eat More Fat

Have you been told the same lie I have? Eat a low-fat and high carbohydrate diet to stay lean and live a long healthy life.

The opposite is actually true.

You want to lose weight? Eat more fat. No, I’m not joking.

You’ve been lied to. Fat is not the enemy. For weight loss, it’s your best friend.

The threemain reasons why eating a high fat diet will help you lose weight are…Satiety, Substitution, and Satisfaction

When you consume fat-filled foods like olives, avocados, cheese and yes even bacon, you feel full. You have the feeling of satiety.

This is important because contrary to the evil processed foods we ingest, fatty foods don’t cause us to have an overwhelming urge to continue to consume them.

Eat an avocado and hunger goes away. Pick up a bag of chips and you won’t stop until you’ve licked your fingers clean after eating all the crumbs from the bottom of the bag. I know because I’ve done this – many times.

Processed foods cause an addictive like response and it is very hard to stop eating them. Think about it. Haven’t you been in the middle of eating some type of processed food and told yourself to stop, but you continue to eat…and eat…and eat.

Fat-filled food does not produce the same effect, actually quite the opposite. You’ll feel satisfied and full, able to move on without the uncomfortable cravings.

In the I Believe Weight Loss Programthe biggest emphasis in the meal plan is substituting processed foods, particularly ones with sugar in them, with fat-filled foods.

By substituting these foods you get your insulin under control because you’re not ingesting the insulin-spiking processed foods.

The result is your body stops relying so heavily on the simple carbohydrates and will burn fat for energy. You can actually turn your body into a fat-burning machine with this process. (I’ll cover that in a later post.)

Insulin control is the most important component in the weight loss battle. By eating more fat and less processed foods you’ll take one huge step forward toward your weight loss goals.

We’ve already discussed satiety and how fat helps with that. In addition to making us feel full, fat gives us another benefit – satisfaction. While losing weight, satisfaction is more important than you can ever imagine.

The truth is when you’re told you can eat bacon, cheese and have heavy cream in your coffee you are WAY more likely to commit to a weight loss program…and stick with it.

It’s more than a physical response. When you eat fat and know it’s part of your diet for the future you have a psychological advantage.

When I pass on the Starbucks Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha with Whipped Cream (75 grams of sugar) I don’t feel slighted in the least. All I have to think about is the bacon I’ll be eating during my next meal. That’s satisfaction!

You’ve been lied to. Fat is not the enemy. For weight loss, it’s your best friend.

Fat is good, but don’t run out and buy five pounds of bacon and start feasting.

I share all this information with you, because if you’re like me you’ve been lied to all your life. Eat a low-fat diet and you’ll be healthier and leaner. It’s simply not true.

However, it isn’t a license to go out and overindulge. You need a plan.

I’ve said it before in my book and in other posts – my program works and it will work for you, but my main concern is you have some guidance.
